Posted on May 19, 2015 by drawesomeillus

I illustrate and design bespoke artwork for commercial or personal use, which infused with my quirky ideas and drawing style creates imagery that is deliciously fun and has great impact.

These are some of the great projects, individuals and businesses I’ve been involved with:

  • Entering Brooklyn Art Library’s ‘The Sketchbook Project’ with an illustrated journal called Nighttime Stories. My book proved so popular that it was featured in The New York Magazine
  • Creating stationery for Bristol Zoo Gardens’ contribution to a National Plant Collection specialising in marigold species. The project works with a wide variety of people from the Bristol community, which is reflected in the artwork
  • Designing a logo and poster for an incredible Marie Curie fundraiser which was a skinny dip that broke a Guinness World Record. The appeal of the logo prompted sales of t-shirts, which then raised another £350
  • Painting a series of pet illustrations which was used for creating a personalised mug set. This was given as a perfect pet-lover Christmas gift
  • Illustrating mischievous time-travelling cats for the Geevor Tin Mine museum trail and their children’s underground tin-mining story book adventure ‘Basil & Scraggs go underground at Geevor’

The Breathing Space

Posted on December 16, 2011 by drawesomeillus

I was approached by a tremendously energetic woman setting up a company called The Breathing Space.  Her energy came from her passion to set up a company she really cared for – helping people make positive changes in their lives to make happier souls.  She felt that taking inspiration from nature was a great environment to support these learning experiences and requested that I too, take inspiration from nature.

Circles and spirals are quite calming shapes – being found in nature also – so thought this would be a good direction to follow.  Starting with circles and then settling on a spiral shape, I also looked into British trees as an imagery source.  I liked the idea of a breeze being a breath of fresh air, swirling leaves as it went.

The finished piece took on a light natural quality, suiting the company ethos and becoming a strong solution for the image that my client requested.

See my final image below…

Logo for Polished

Posted on November 21, 2010 by drawesomeillus

The company Polished was formed as a new business for a nail technician.  The client wanted to convey a sense of luxury and pampering, with a modern edge.  I felt the butterfly conveyed a feminine quality which balanced nicely with a punchier font and bright colour.
